Vehicle-Specific Installation Information
for Supplemental Braking

• Vehicles with ‘active’ braking systems
Vehicles with active braking systems can be equipped with the BrakeMaster supplemental braking system. However, if a BrakeMaster is installed in any vehicle equipped with an active braking system, a Brake Pressure Reducer (part number 900002) must also be installed.
For a list of applicable vehicles, go to Brake Pressure Reducer Applications List.

• Jeep Liberty
A pull-down insert in the dash panel, under the steering column, can be removed for easy access to the brake light switch.

• Vehicles which must have fuse(s) removed for towing
On Saturn LS, Ion and Vue, as well as other vehicles, fuse(s) must be removed from the vehicle before it can be towed. Refer to the owner’s manual, the dealership or the manufacturer before the installation of the supplemental braking system — if fuse(s) must be removed, verify that removing them will not affect the proper operation of the supplemental braking system.
If pulling the fuses disables the brake lights, an optional stop light switch kit must be installed. ROADMASTER has optional stop light switch kits available for many popular towed vehicles. For the most recent list, go to Stop Light Switch Kits.

• Vehicles with ‘automatic shut-down’
To conserve the battery voltage, some newer vehicles will automatically shut down the electrical system if the vehicle has been turned off and is unoccupied for a period of time.
To allow the supplemental braking system to operate in vehicles with this automatic shut-down feature, install an optional 12-volt outlet kit (part number 9332), as well as a stop light switch kit.       ROADMASTER has optional stop light switch kits available for many popular towed vehicles. For the most recent list, go to Stop Light Switch Kits.

• All Ford vehicles with ‘neutral tow’ kits
Do not install the Brake-Lite Relay in any Ford vehicle with a ‘neutral tow’ kit. Using the Brake-Lite Relay in these vehicles may prevent disengagement of the transmission for towing, causing severe non-warranty transmission damage.
For wiring information, go to Wiring a Ford 'neutral tow' vehicle.
