COMFORT RIDE SHOCK SYSTEMS

Product Description

Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers

Have you ever opened the door to your trailer after a road trip and looked into your own personal earthquake zone?
Cabinet drawers wide open with their contents strewn over the floor? Pictures off the wall? Furniture that's 'walked'?
If buying 50 bungee cords doesn't seem like much of a solution, then let Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers solve what's actually causing the problem — outmoded components which transfer energy, rather than absorb it.

Why don't travel trailers and fifth wheels come with shocks from the factory? First, nobody rides in the trailer, so they don't realize how much abuse their RV is taking as it bounces down the road. Second, trailers don't have enough vertical clearance to facilitate shocks. Comfort Ride's patented design eliminates these space constraints. They allow the shocks to be mounted vertically, where they have the leverage to limit up-and-down motion on both compression and rebound.

Did you know that on a typical highway, your trailer experiences the equivalent of a 3.2 magnitude earthquake?  It is shocking how much force is relayed from the road to the trailer. Forces that twist and flex the frame causing brittle roof seams to crack and leak. Forces that cause sofas and stoves to vibrate out into the aisle. Forces that require you to remove loose belongings from shelving and walls each time before you tow. Comfort Ride ends this ritual. Its heavy-duty, nitrogen-charged shocks ABSORB the majority of these forces rather than transmitting them throughout the RV. They also eliminate trailer bouncing and 'porpoising.'

Another common problem is trailer rocking. Because your RV rides on leaf springs, it wants to teeter-totter back and forth from side to side. Comfort Ride's shock absorbers are cleverly mounted at a 15 degree inward angle. This absorbs the teeter-totter energy and stops the side-to-side rocking.

Stop the white-knuckling! Many trailers and fifth wheels are a handful to tow. On poor roads, they can be downright scary. A major reason for this is the driver must constantly react to the forces the trailer is applying to the truck. Comfort Ride calms the energy from your trailer, resulting in a better ride and more control.

Improves your trailer life — Comfort Ride can absorb 80 percent of the forces that may create water leaks and damage your trailer over time. If you stop the twisting and flexing, you stop the cracking and breaking of room seams and sealants.

Have you ever owned a car without shock absorbers? Shocks are a standard piece of equipment on even the least expensive automobiles. If you ever drove a car without shocks, you wouldn't drive it again. Nobody wants to inflict those severe jolts and jounces to their body, so why inflict those same forces to your trailer or fifth wheel?

Comfort Ride will significantly reduce the cause of these common symptoms:

Chucking — The truck is rocked forward and aft when the trailer goes over uneven pavement (dips, frost heaves and the infamous bridge expansion joints)

Axle roll-up — During braking, the trailer's rear tires are lifted enough to cause a loss in traction (and a rise in the driver's blood pressure)

Suspension rebound — When one tire goes over an obstacle, the trailer tips sideways. After the tire clears the obstacle, the leaf springs (and the trailer with them) rebound like a pogo stick.

Although Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers can be installed separately, they work best when combined with the Comfort Ride Slipper Spring system. When used together, on smooth roads you can expect up to a 50 percent reduction in induced road energy transmission into your RV, over cobblestones a 76 percent reduction, and over gravel roads a 94 percent reduction.

Comfort Ride Shocks and Slipper Springs are designed for low maintenance; 10 of the 14 moving parts in the conventional RV suspension are eliminated. The remaining four use self-lubricating bushings.

Shock Absorber Kits include four shock absorbers, patented mounting brackets, hardware, and installation instructions. Each kit contains the components for a tandem axle trailer. To determine the correct kit for your trailer, all you need is your trailer's axle diameter.

The 2450 is the Comfort Ride Shock Absorber system for trailers with 2-3/8" diameter axles.

The 2460 is the Comfort Ride Shock Absorber system for trailers with 3" diameter axles.

The 2470 is the Comfort Ride Shock Absorber system for trailers with 3.5" diameter axles.

Read what our customers say about this product...

“My wife and I recently completed a 5-month, 16,150-mile trip from South Carolina, to Quebec, across Canada, into and around Alaska, back through Canada, down to Montana, across to Michigan, and back to South Carolina in our 2020 Keystone Cougar 26RBS. In addition to the great distance, we knew we would be traveling over some of the roughest roads in North America. Part of our extensive research included which suspension upgrades would give us the best and, even more important, the safest performance.  We chose the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers for Tandem Axle Trailers. Your kit had well written instructions and was easy to install.  It turned out to be a good decision. The RV held the road much better and was able to easily manage the very bad conditions.

[The system] was optimal for handling the wet, muddy, dusty, and very rough conditions with ease. It was not unusual to have serious frost heaves appear with no warning, especially after Destruction Bay on the Alaskan Highway.  I cannot tell you how many times we told each other just how glad we were that we did this upgrade. The protection gave us much added piece of mind."
